MICROSOFT JOINS WINDOWS AZURE WITH WINDOWS 8 APPS
Microsoft
has added a new mobile capability to its Windows Azure open cloud platform:
Windows Azure Mobile Services. The new services enable developers to use
Windows Azure for building cloud capabilities (data storage, user
authentication, and push notifications) into Win8 apps, according to blog post
from Scott Guthrie, corporate VP for Microsoft’s Server and Tools business. When
a developer creates a Windows Azure Mobile Service, the new service is tied to
a SQL Database within Windows
Azure
and is then able to support remote storage and other capabilities for the app.
Guthrie adds that
Support
will be available “soon” for Windows Phone, Android, and iOS apps.
